Lighthouses: A Beacon into Michigan's History

National Lighthouse Day (August 7) honors the beacons of light that for hundreds of years symbolized safety and security for ships and boats at sea.  From 1825 to today, lighthouses have played a key role in the story of Michigan.  Lauren Nelson, manager of the Fort Gratiot Light Station, will feature some of Michigan's 100+ lighthouses and explain how they are intertwined with both local and state history.
