Movie: Robin Hood In-Person
Dashing Errol Flynn in the definitive swashbuckler, winning hand of Olivia de Havilland (never lovelier as Maid Marion), foiling evil prince Claude Rains, dueling wicked Basil Rathbone. Erich Wolfgang Korngold's outstanding score earned an Oscar as did the art direction and editing. Arguably Flynn's greatest role. With a vibrant palette of reds and greens coloring a whole host of elaborate set pieces, lavish costumes and groundbreaking action, it became the first color film to lead a year at the box office, sounding the trumpet that color films were here to stay. Directed by Michael Curtiz. With Patrick Knowles, Eugene Pallette, Alan Hale (as Little John), and Una O'Connor. 1938. 102 minutes. In Blu-ray.
