The renaissance of Star Trek with Discovery, Picard, two animation series and even more to come underscores the endearing appeal and relevance of that groundbreaking series. Many have carried the Trek torch, but what keeps fans and attracts new ones to that diverse, aspirational future universe is all from creator Gene Roddenberry, who died in 1991.
