Star Trek In-Person

The renaissance of Star Trek with Discovery, Picard, two animation series and even more to come underscores the endearing appeal and relevance of that groundbreaking series. Many have carried the Trek torch, but what keeps fans and attracts new ones to that diverse, aspirational future universe is all from creator Gene Roddenberry, who died in 1991.  Turns out “The Great Bird of the Galaxy” has just as much to say to 2019 as he did to 1966 — as author and historian Larry “Dr. Trek” Nemecek will share, using the same letters and memos from the family files as he does on the The Trek Files weekly podcast from Los Angeles.  Larry, who also hosts his "Portal 47" monthly deep-dive Star Trek experience, will share examples keyed to reveal how modern Star Trek can be just as inspiring, reassuring and issue-driven as it ever was: It’s just the DNA of its daddy.
